Come all Limousin enthusiasts for a fun afternoon and evening in Emporia, Kan., at the Best Western Hotel at 3021 W. Hwy 50 on February 7. If you would be staying for the night, ask for the KLBA Block. The hotel phone number is 620-342-7587.

The afternoon will start at 3 p.m. for socializing and finding out what everyone has been doing the past year. Find out about the exciting things that KLBA will be doing in the next year and beyond.

Then around 4 p.m. we will have the Annual Meeting. This is a change from having the meeting on the weekend of the State sale in the spring. There will be an election of new board members. If anyone is interested in a board position, call Bruce Schrag or any board member and let them know of your interest in a board position.

After the meeting the Kansas Junior Limousin Breeders Association will be catering another great meal for our enjoyment. The cost of this will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations need to be made to either Bruce Schrag at 620-367-2576 or Karen Campbell at 913-727-5407 by February 4.

Then comes the really fun part of the evening, our benefit auction. This is one of our fund raisers for the year. We need people to donate items and people to buy the donated items. The items can be handmade, bought, secret items, food items (very popular). We already have some semen donations from MAGS Remote, WULFS Nasa, and EXLR New Generation. This semen will be available that evening so bring your semen tank if you are thinking about purchasing those lots. If you let Bruce Schrag or Pat Meek know what you are donating, we can list these on the website so if someone cannot attend they can place a bid with someone that is attending. We hope everyone will plan to attend and have a lot of fun.

We also will be discussing the 2009 Heartland Junior Regional Show that Kansas will be hosting this year in Ottawa at the Franklin County Fairgrounds on June 4-6. Another exciting item that we will be discussing is that KLBA will be hosting the National Junior Heifer Show in Hutchinson July 3-10, 2010.

If you have not received your raffle tickets to sell on the KSU Quilt that Corrine Olsen put together for the KLBA, call Bruce Schrag for them. They sell for $1 each or six for $5. There is a picture of the quilt on the KLBA website.

The KLBA Spring Sale will be on Saturday, April 4 at the Farmer’s and Ranchers Livestock in Salina, Kan. If you are interested in consigning cattle for this sale, the sale rules and nomination forms are on the website at For more information you can give sale chairman, Jerry Meek, a call at 913-594-1453 or email him at limobull@wildblue. net. The forms are due on February 15 with registration papers and performance information. It would be helpful if you could give him a call with what you are thinking of consigning. This will help with the advertising, which is due well in advance of the sale date.
