HorseFest sizzles Springfield with huge trade show, education and entertainment

Mark Parker — Internationally-known horseman Guy McLean set the bar high at last week’s HorseFest in Springfield, Mo., and a full slate of savvy horsemen and women, hot competition and the area’s biggest equine trade show added up to a great weekend for thousands of area equine enthusiasts.

In addition to the Aussie trainer /entertainer, HorseFest visitors had the opportunity to learn from several top-notch clinicians.

They also watched full-tilt, fast-paced action in the Mounted Cowboy Shooters HorseFest Shootout and the NBHA HorseFest Barrel Racing Showdown.

More than 300 exhibits in the trade show and live horse displays completed the equine experience.

Three lucky visitors won $300 Shopping Sprees with HorseFest Gold Sponsors — PFI Western Store, Race Brothers Farm & Home Supply, MFA Inc., Priefert Ranch Equipment and Applegate Livestock Equipment.

Friday’s Shopping Spree winner was Michelle Moffett of Crane, Mo., who spent her prize money with PFI.

Linda Taylor of Ballwin, Mo., chose Race Brothers Farm & Home for her Saturday winnings.

Jody Maes of Springfield, Mo., was Sunday’s Shopping Spree winner and spent her $300 with PFI.

Zach Nanninga of Rogersville, Mo., shown at left, was the winner of the 40-ft. Applegate Round Pen.

In the children’s drawing, Chesnee Lee of Willard, Mo., won a $100 PFI Shopping Spree.
