Toburen named editor of Farm Talk Newspaper
Doug Toburen, Parsons, Kansas, has been named editor of Farm Talk Newspaper.
He fills a position that was held by Mark Parker, Parsons, for over 25 years.
Toburen has been with Farm Talk as associate editor for the past 11 years. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural journalism.
“I am excited about my new position with Farm Talk and look forward to continuing to put out an informative news package for our subscribers across the four-state area,” he said.
Mark Parker recently left Farm Talk to pursue other interests in the agricultural journalism field.
“It was a real honor to get to work with Mark for 11 years,” he explained. “Mark is a great agricultural editor and I know I have some really big footsteps to follow.”
According to Ted Gum, Farm Talk publisher, Mark is going to be greatly missed at Farm Talk.
“Mark was with Farm Talk a long time,” Gum said. “We will miss him and we wish him the best in all of his new endeavors.”
In his new position, Toburen will be in charge of the newspaper design and layout, writing press releases, weekly news articles, feature stories and Website content.
“I feel fortunate Doug is stepping up and taking over the editor position at Farm Talk,” Gum explained. “His experience as associate editor has given him the background necessary to carry Farm Talk’s editorial package forward into the future.”
