OJRA rodeo season is here again


Well, it’s that time of year again to saddle up those horses and ride at the rodeo. The Oklahoma Junior Rodeo Association would like to invite all the youth cowboys and cowgirls to come join the rodeo fun. The OJRA rodeo season begins March 13, at the Roan Hoarse Arena in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

The first double-day rodeo performance begins at noon and the second to follow at 6 p.m.

Exhibition barrels and 30 minutes before the start of each rodeo.

The age groups are as followed:

• six and under

•seven to nine

•10 to 13

•14 to 18

Order of events includes flags, barrels, poles, goat tying, rough stock, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, tie down roping and team roping. Rodeos continues throughout the summer traveling across Northeast Oklahoma with the finals schedule for August 27-29 at Will Rogers Round-Up Club in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Each contestant qualifying for the finals receives a buckle and event prizes. Championship saddles are awarded to the All-Around cowboy and cowgirl in each age group, as well as event saddles for each age group.
