Kansas Limousin Breeder Assoc. events change dates

Parsons, Kansas — The Kansas Limousin Breeder Association have set the date for the 21st Annual Spring Sale, after sending out a questionnaire to our many buyers and consignors over the years the date and day were the one thing everyone wanted changed.

The KLBA Board of Directors changed the sale to Saturday, March 23 at the Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Facility in Salina, Kan. Due to the earlier date the entry date is February 7.

The forms were sent out last week, so be watching for them in the mail. If you are new to our sale and would like the entry form and rules, please call Jerry Meek, sale chairman at 913-594-1453 or email him at jerrymeek@crownrealty.com.

Another change for KLBA is the annual meeting date in the past few years was held the weekend of the annual sale. Since the sale is being held on Saturday, there would not be time to include it in the same weekend. The KLBA board has elected to move the KLBA Annual Meeting to the weekend of this year’s KJLBA Field Day. This year the field day is being held June 1 and 2 in Columbus, Kan.

The tentative schedule is Saturday June 1. The meeting would be held in the latter part of the afternoon. This would allow time for the meeting, meal, benefit auction and social time with fellow breeders.

The chair of the Annual Meeting committee is Hubert Thomas, if you have suggestions, ideas or benefit items for the auction call him at 620-249-9163.

KLBA is looking for a 2013 Commercial Producer applicant, if any of our members have a candidate in mind, give KLBA president Randy Corns a call at 620-750-0924.

Anyone interested in Limousin genetics, besides the KLBA Annual Sale there are also two production sales being held in Kansas. Liberty Ranch of Plainville will be holding theirs on February 2 and GV Limousin of Garnett will be held on February 16.

KLBA is a member of the Heartland Limousin Association and they are having two events in the coming months. The first will be the HLA Annual Meeting, banquet and benefit auction being held in Des Moines, Iowa, during the Iowa Beef Expo, on Tuesday, February 12 at the FFA Building on the Iowa State Fairground. The HLA is seeking donation items for their benefit auction. The regional junior show is being held on May 24 and 25 in Indianola, Iowa.
