The Missouri Cattlemen's Association (MCA), on behalf of the Missouri Beef Industry Council, is offering 15 on-site training seminars for Missouri cattlemen through the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Program. BQA is a national program that provides guidelines for humane and safe beef cattle production. MCA President Chuck Massengill says that by becoming BQA certified, a producer will gain insight of industry practices that will improve herd health and, ultimately, increase profitability.
"Producers are always seeking new ways to make their operation more efficient," says Massengill. "By attending, cattlemen are choosing to learn up-to-date information and management practices that are encouraged by industry professionals."

Through the use of science, research and education, the BQA program has identified production practices producers can implement each day. University of Missouri Extension Veterinary Medicine Specialist Craig Payne will lead the program. Payne says this is a great chance for cattlemen to learn the best management practices.
"BQA training is not only beneficial for the producer, but the industry," says Payne. "The sessions give producers tools so they may continue to produce healthy beef, while improving the beef industry as a whole."
