Muller wins National FFA scholarship
The National FFA Organization awarded a $1,000 Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Scholarship to Jesse Muller of Labette County High School FFA. Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, sponsors the scholarship. Jesse plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at Coffeyville Community College (Kan.).
This scholarship is one of 1,641 awarded through the National FFA Scholarship Program this year. Currently, 133 corporate sponsors generously contribute more than $2.2 million to support this program. This is the 24th year that scholarships have been made available through the National FFA Foundation by business and industry sponsors to reward and encourage excellence and enable students to pursue their educational goals.
Scholarship recipients were selected from 8,420 applicants from across the country. Selections were based on the applicant’s academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural experience program in agricultural education and future goals.
In addition to the ADM scholarship, Muller was named the State FFA Environmental Science and Natural Resources Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency award winner and received a $250 check at the state FFA convention. State winners will advance to competition for national honors.
State applications will be judged to be chosen as one of the four National finalists who will each receive a plaque and a $500 check. The national winner, selected from this group, will receive an additional $500 check and plaque.
Muller was also named the State FFA Star in Agricultural Placement winner and received a $300 check at the state FFA convention. State winners are eligible to participate in competition for national honors
